Default Can I set go to point for newly built ships?

I hate going to the log file and then "go to" every newly built ship every turn. This is a tedious task since all of the ship rendesvous at one or two planets.

Thank You

Yes there is!

You need to make a waypoint. You can do so by hitting F11 for the Empire status screen. Choose waypoints...then click on the planet or whatever that you want to make a waypoint on the main map. You can now set shipyards to use the 'move to' command in the construction menu and choose the waypoint. New ships will automatically be sent to there when complete.

A little more detail from the Newbie FAQ:

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...;f=23;t=005518

11.3.1 You can set up waypoints to have ships built at spaceyards automatically go to a given location. Define the waypoint under Empire Status, and select the given waypoint at a space yard by set move to button.
11.3.1.1 Q: How do I actually set automatic "move to" orders?
AAtrocities)
(Part I) Setting Automatic Move To Points.
a. Click on the EMPIRE STATUS icon. (The Gold Crown Icon second row 4th from the left.)
b. Click on WAYPOINTS
c. Click on one of the numbers in EXSISTING WAYPOINTS.
d. Click SET (This will take you back to the System map.
e. Click on the system you want to have the Automatic Go To set in.
f. Click on the Place you want it to be. Can be any spot. Warp Point, Planet, Asteroid, etc.
(Part II) Setting order to move to Automatic Move To Point.
g. Open the Construction Que icon. (The Wrench 6th from the left on the TOP row.) Or open a specific Planet Build Que.
h. Pick a planet, then click on the Build Que icon. (Second row, 11th from the left, looks like a steam shovel.) This will open up that planets build que.
Once you are in the Planet Build Que of any planet you choose. (Provided it has a shipyard.) You can set the Move To orders.
i. Click the SET MOVE TO button. (9th from the top on the right hand side.)
j. Click the number that corresponds to your desired location that you want the ship to move to once it has been constructed.
k.NOTE: The que will send all ships that it constructs to that location unless you specify other, or clear the Move To command.
l.To remove a Go To Location entirely, repeat the steps in Part I, except this time click DELETE instead of SET.
m.To clear a planets build que's Move To orders, simply click Clear Move To. (10th down from the top on the right side.)
(Part III)
n. Choose a ship.
o. Click the Move To Waypoint Icon. (Top Row, 8th icon. Looks sort oflike a yellow triangle)
p. Click the number that corresponds to your desired location that you want the ship to move to

Slick.

How am I supposed to believe a person named Kwok?

I missed that part I guess. I read the Faq over a couple of times a loong while ago. I will read it first next time.

A better way to make waypoints is to use the hotkeys. On the system map, hit alt + # (where # is the number of the way point you want to set) and then click on the sector you want to set the waypoint in. Much faster. You can hit ctrl + # to send a ship/fleet to a waypoint directly. ctrl + # doesn't work for setting auto waypoints at SYs, but then, how could it?

Cripes... the "Newbie FAQ" is a manual. MM should just print it up and include it with new copies of SE IV Gold.
