Default discovering warp points

Hello,

Is it possiable to mod warp points so that you can't detect them without a certain level of sensors (grav in particular). I thought an interesting idea for a mod would be one where very few warp points were visiable with out sensors and a race that had the sensors might be able to circumvent the defences of another by sneaking in the back door. I thought that that would make things a bit more realistic b/c we might not be able to detect all of the warp points leading out of a system by simply being in the system for 2 min. Thanks!

no. The warp points are hard coded into the exe and not the text files...

It is a wish many of us have wanted... That way you could add pre warp....

actually tesco you can tweak the text files a little, but not quite enough. You could give them natural cloaking and make it so that they don't show up on the system map.

Unfortunately there's no way of hiding them on the galaxy map, and hitting the "explore" button or sending a ship to a location beyond the warp point would reveal their locations immediately.

So yeah, you can't do it.

It's too bad that the game doesn't allow for hidden warp points. That really would be a great option for gameplay. You can just imagine ships hunting around for warp points that may, or may not, be there.

DS: WPs are hardcoded to _always_ appear on the system map. I have not been able to get them to be invisible on the system map, period. Could you post your file that makes them capable of being invisible on the system map?

one way to do it so they are invisible on the map would be to replace the pictures with clear or invisible ones. that would only affect the human player as the ai does not need the picture. plus you can turn on names and it will show the system name it is going to so you would know it was there. plus as mentioned earlier explore command will show exactly where it is since the ai controls the ship.
