Default Ten thousand drones of beer on the wall ...

Has anyone seen what happens to the automatic numbering in unit/ship names, when it goes over 9999?

For instance, the drones are numbered in the same series, regardless of design, so they're the most likely to go over 9999.

Has anyone launched 10,000 drones (or anything else that exceeded 9999 in auto-numbering) and seen what the program does?

How long would a game have to go on to actually reach that number?

I think you'd die of radiation from your computer before you'd get that far into the game.

Then again, there are people more patient than me here

Not very long, if you were just testing it. I have an actual game where I wasn't trying to do anything like that, and drones got up to a couple-hundred. If the game goes on for much longer, it could happen. Not to mention something like the Adamant 0006 PBW game (Proportions meets practically infinite asteroids = ungodly construction). A high-tech start test using a cheap design would probably reach it pretty soon.

I tried to make a test-mod and succeeding in doing something I've never done before: utterlly killing SE4. As it, it won't run any more. (I haven't tried rebooting yet)

Didn't get to even launch a drone. I suppose setting the drone size to 1, cost to 1, empire production to 20000000 and planet production to 2000000 might have had something to do with that..

Not drones and auto numbering, but I have seen units in excess of 80 thousand in AIC.

The Highest ship count I have seen, if I remember correctly, was well over 700 by the AI, before I toned down AI campaign to more Playable figures.

AI in AIC makes very few drones. So this wont be going up, soon. Thanks for the heads up

I have a few old tests with high numbers, is there a Category that should be checked????

*Dogscoff looks at the topic...

Hmm, delivering beer in drones rather than bottles... no more walking up to the bar, just call for a beer-drone and it targets your mouth=-)

I think I'll have to bring this up in the Cantina...
