A quick mod question
Hi,
If I change the name of a particular facility, will it affect AIs' ability to research or build it?
For instance, if the names of Gestation Vats I, II and III are changed to Viagra Vats I, II and III, will an AI with the Organic advanced trait have any problems with it?
Thanks in advance.

Re: A quick mod question
Sorry, I meant to include that my question is specifically about changing the facilities.txt file -- only.

Re: A quick mod question
Names have zero effect for the AIs.
To protect your file integrity, you will want to create a modfolder.
Create a new folder, and call it "SamuraiModv1"
Inside there, it should have the same structure as your base SE4.
To mod the facilities.txt file, you create a "Data" folder inside "SamuraiModv1", and copy facilities.txt in.
Edit the copy all you like, and you don't have to worry about having to reinstall because you lost your unmodded game.
To play your mod, find Path.txt in the main folder with the SE4.exe
Edit that, and change the line:
Path := None
to
Path := SamuraiModv1
When you next run SE4, it will load your modded files instead of the originals.
For any needed files which you don't put it your mod, SE4 will use the defaults.

Re: A quick mod question
Won't have any effect so long as you don't change the family number (what the AI looks at to decide what to build) or th roman nuneral (could mess up when it gets built).

Re: A quick mod question
Right facilities and components are called by ability (or weapon family in case of weapon components), so AIs don't care about their name.
In my Spanish Translation mod (kept in secret so far) AIs only need to have Tech areas, cultures, happiness types and formations updated.
