Default systems?

Is the system the planet or is it the entire map (sun and planets)?

Do I only need 1 space port per systme or do I need it on each planet that is producing goods?

Thank you.

System: Solar system (big map)
Quadrant: Galaxy quadrant (small map at your right)
Sector: square in the system map

You need only one Space port per system. All planets in a system trade through one space port, which conect a system to the rest of the empire.

In general:

"Galaxy" or "Quadrant" is the entire map, as seen in the bottom right corner.

"System" is one circle on the galaxy map, and comprises everything you see on the detailed map on the left of the screen.
This is typically a planetary system, a nebula, a black hole or single unique star, etc.

"Sector" is one square on the system map. May contain a planet and its moon(s), a star, an asteroid field, or typically empty space. Combat occurs entirely within one sector.

PS:
Only facilities that generate points need a spaceport.
Resource Storage facilities, Spaceyards, resupply depots, training facilities, and other miscellaneous facilities do not need a spaceport in the system.
Also, if you take the "natural merchants" racial trait, you will never need to build spaceports.

If you see a red, wrinked can like icon on your planet, then there is no spaceport in the system yet.

Think os System as 'Solar System'; The Sun('s)and all objects in orbit around it. System wide facilities (such as Space Ports) cover all planets in the system they are located in; one space port being sufficient for all the planets in that system.

And the cross-post results are in!

the envelope please......

The best explaination award goes to ......"Suicide Junkie" for a straight forward, yet slightly long winded detail of the answer.
