PBW -email
For a while at PBW if you emailed in your turn, sometimes the game skipped your turn like you didn't send it. Have the chaps at PBW gotten that taken care of?
I'm about to be restricted to a slow modem at times and may not be able to upload my turns via the website.
Thanks

Re: PBW -email
Never happened to me.
Maybe you're sending turns too close to the timeline. Sometimes there's a delay in emails.

Re: PBW -email
Email is not perfect. Messages do get lost. And we run a lot of traffic accros ours. We used to have complaints all the time. Unfortunately there wasn't anything we could do about it. Haven't heard many lately. Not sure if that just means people are dealing with it or if the service has gotten better.
I concur with Andrs suggestion. If you must use email send it early. Don't wait till the Last second. And if you are worried you can send it more than once. The server will only accept one. The code in the subject line identifies it for the game and the turn number and additional emails sent later with that turn will be ignored.

Hmmm.... I wonder if you guys could figure out away to send a turn recieved confirmation. That way we would know our e-mail got through?

Re: PBW -email
Just go to the text based Version of the site and upload it. That is much easier and more reliable than using email to send in turns.

Re: PBW -email
Maybe Geo can confirm this can happen but I seem to recall that I sent a wrong file and the turn processed with the AI doing my turn.

We can, and we have. It sends a turn processed confirmation when you send your turn via email. And if it receives a turn and rejects it for some reason it sends a rejection email. Although as with most PC error Messages it's not always terribly specific about what the problem is causing it to be rejected. It's done this for a long time now actually. I think this is a feature Admiral added from the begining.
It takes a few minutes for emails to get processed though. It only checks for new emails every so often. But if you haven't got a good or bad confirmation within a half hour or so you should probably either check to see if the site is down, or just send another email. Maybe it got lost.

*sigh* Do try to keep up Fyron. The original poster in this thread stated he is going ot a slow connection and is looking for an alternative to the website.

Actually, this is possible. But it takes a combination of several errors on your part. The stuff on the subject line between the ~'s identifies the game, the player and the turn to PBW. For PBW to process an incorrect turn, you would have to send a previous turn for that particular game attached to the current email message. This however is possible to do via the website as well. It's not a failing of the email submission system.
All in all it's a pretty stable system. As long as you give it enough time to process your emails, and follow up if you don't get a confirmation or rejection.
