Re: Deathstalker\'s Mount Mod- Gold 1.1 Update
Ummm...excited guys
Thanks for the replys (and sorry it did take so long to get back to modding......onward to restoring the D-Mod...eventually )
Let me know what you think of the new Version of the Mount Mod (good/bad/ugly...suggestions). I can personally see the Engine Mounts getting a LOT of use, as well as the Hardened Component to protect vs. Ionic weapons, just a shame we can't 'stack' mounts. (hint, hint MM )

Re: Deathstalker\'s Mount Mod- Gold 1.1 Update
Deathstalker,
I like this sort of stuff. I did someting like this Last year for myself with the hardened/armored components, but I scrapped it because I thought it would cause problems with the AIs. You could get some HUGE armors, organic, ouch, and I was afraid the mounting of 150% upsized components would cause the AI to 'squeeze out' some semi-critical components during design or otherwise cause it to make some odd designs.
It might also screw the AI from building a ringworld/sphereworld as if it for some reason decides to 'armor' the components they won't fit on anything. Of course, who cares here maybe, as I've never even built one myself let alone seen an AI do it.
Just wondering if you'd had any problems like I outlined?

Re: Deathstalker\'s Mount Mod- Gold 1.1 Update
Tenryu,
I did have problems at first (all AI ships came out with hardened everything) but figured a way out of the situation. As far as the CompEnhancement.txt goes the AI will take the mount furthest down the list and the mount that is the largest vs. the kt of the ship. So basicly I made the 'Hardened Component' mount have a requirement of 0kt for ship size, and then made a new 'Normal Component' mount directly below it requiring 80kt (Sat size) minimum size, so the AI will always use the Normal Component. If there were 70kt ships they would use the Hardened Comp. So basicly I kept the Mounts that would really screw up the AI (Spinal mounts, Hardened Mounts, Miniturized Component Mounts, etc) out of AI reach by forcing them to use 'Normal' size mounts. This way all the really fun mounts can be used by Humans (PBW ) but Mounts the AI is ok to use it still will and in a certian order.
I also forced the AI to use certain mounts vs. ship sizes. It will use Light Mounts for Escorts, Normal for Frigates, ER for Destroyers, Large for LC, Pulsed for Cruisers, Heavy for BS and up, Massive for Dreadnought, and High Energy Focus for Baseships. The MiniMissile Mount (70% size missile launchers, full damage) is set for use on all AI ships up to Dreadnought.
Longwinded explanation but I hope it helped.
