Yes, boarding parties have
both attack and defense strength. Which is why I'd like to be able to choose how many to expend on an attack, so I could keep some in reserve if I thought I could do so and still capture my target. As it is, you really ought to include a Security Stations component to defend your emptied boarding ship after it's used all it's marines. Or at least a self-destruct device.
