System versus Planetary Facilitys
Basically, my questions is thus: do system and panetary bonus facilities stack? For example, if I have a System Central Computer Complex II (+20%) and a Planetary Computer Complex III (+30%) what would my research bonus be? +50%? +20%? +30%?
Thanks
Derek

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
It used to be that System and Planetary bonuses did stack, so it would have been 50% bonus. I don't think it is still like this, so it would be 30% (the game would pick the greater of the two bonuses).

Ehhh? This is the first I've heard of this change. Are you sure about that, will?

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
Multiple system facilities will not stack anymore. In the early Version of the game you could have a multiple copies of both planetary and system facilities on every planet and they would all stack, so you could have several thousand 'percent' bonuses on production. Now it's just one planet enhancer per planet and one system enhancer per system. I have not noticed that system facilities don't stack with planet facilities, and there was no notice in the history.txt about this change. If a system facility didn't stack with a planet facility what would be the point of system facilities??

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
I don't think they stack unless you have a system and plantary facility that have different abilities due to the restrictions, "one facility effective per..."
ex:
system robotoid factory (+system minerals) + planetary mineral scanner (+planet minerals)
Stack
system robotoid factory (+system minerals) + system mineral scanner (+system minerals)
Don't Stack

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
Quick Question:
Assuming planet wide facility bonus X of +30 and system wide facility bonus Y of +30.
Is it:
a) total = Resource * (X+Y)
or
b) total = Resource * X * Y

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
If you are not sure, assume it is additive.
(ie: -50% and -50% = 0%, not 25%)
I really wish it was multiplicative, but Aaron gets the final say

Re: System versus Planetary Facilitys
Well I just did a test to see if the system and planet wide facilities stacked and I discovered something even more disturbing. It doesn't seem as if the system wide facilities work at all much less when stacked!!??
Can someone else check this out.
What I did was start a new game with max tech and built each type of facility to see if it changed any totals. The planet ones work and they don't stack. Then I went and built system facilities and got of no effect - it seems that ALL of the system facilities are broken at least for resource, research, and intelligence enhancement. I was going to try thing like death shrine and war shrine next. I tried in both Gold and 1.41 or whatever the previous Version was.

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing some time ago. But don't worry, the system facilities DO work. They just don't show in the planets production. If you look into the empires total production, you will notice that the overall empire production will be greater than the sum of the planets.
