Bug Ottawa Treaty Signatories

Hello All,

First, what a wonderful game.

However, I am in the process of creating a scenario set in Iraq during the Second Gulf War (March/April 2003) and noticed that I am unable to lay mines as Iraq in a defend situation as I receive a notice that "You are an Ottawa Treaty signatory!"

I read up on the treaty and discovered that Iraq was not a signatory and only fell under it's authority by accession in August 2007.

Am I missing something?

My source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_Treaty

Regards,
Christian

NOT a "bug"...... the game is working exactly as it was set up to do but there are grey areas and you found one

It is on the list to check for next year

In the meantime, for scenarios, the solution is dead simple.

Purchase both nations units including mines for you scenario date of March/April 2003...when it comes time to deploy Iraq change the scenario date in the Editor to <2000.....place your mines and the rest of your units. When you are finished reset the date to 2003 and start your scenario.......problem solved, the mines will behave like mines and you won't get the treaty message when you deploy them

Lucky timing, I just found an assumed grey area myself. Are the Green OOB allowed to use mines? They have the same Ottawa treaty gubbins as the Iraqis.

Green isn't covered by the treaty code

This is what I get every time I try to use mines as Green-For. Something for next year, eh? Thanks for the work-around!

I misread the code.

Green isn't on the list becasue the list is only the nations that can lay mines after 1999. Green.... a fictious nation OOB is "assumed" to have signed so if you need to use it in a scenario with mines use the change date workaround.
