In a rare piece of good news the British Army is due increase Gurkha recruitment by 25%. A move I certainly support.

I had to look these dudes up. Although very impressive, I'd say they come in a very close second to the famed ROK army units.
Here's a few of their stories.
Excellent stuff IronDuke99

Re: British Army Gurkhas to increase.
"Back in the day" I had the chance to work with the Gurkha, ROK Marine, Philippine Marines, and a few other generally considered "First Rate" military units. And I'll tell you this I wouldn't have wanted to be part of any on them. The cultural differences in how they treat their troops make me glad I was a fat, lazy, rich US Marine. But I'd trust any of them to cover my back!

The Gurkhas are, of course, second to none.

They are indeed very excellent fighting troops, don't take my word for it but, ask any German that was at Monte Cassino.

Re: British Army Gurkhas to increase.
Tough guys when I was 17 or so barracked near me, sneaking up on a Gurkha was an unwinable game we used to play. Fired my first gun with these guys. They lent a landing craft to transfer sailing dinghies when 2 Regattes were held on consecutive weekends. We carried them with one person at the bow & stern per boat.
Most of the Gurkhas carried 2 boats at the same time & ran over the sand, they had to do it with arms spread so they did not bang. They were doing 4 to everyone we did then picked up the front of the landing craft & they were gone. Left one heck of an impression running on soft sand is hard going without carrying a couple hundred pounds.

Re: British Army Gurkhas to increase.
Ayo Gorkhali! "Victory, the Gurkhas are Here!" Gurkha war cry.
"If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is ether lying or a Gurkha"
Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, former Chief of Staff Indian Army.
Not a bad tribute from a man with a Military Cross known as 'Sam Bahadur' (roughly 'Sam the brave and honourable').
