British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
Just reading about these new battalions. There are to be 7 of them.
http://www.armedforces.co.uk/army/listings/l0031.html
Looking at this structure and then looking at the Foxhounds carrying capability. Does this mean that a section will now be 4 men rather than 8?
Or can the Foxhound really carry 8?
Anyone in the know have more on this?

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
Allegedly the pod holds up to 6, and then there looks like driver +1 in the front=8.
Does not a good choice for a section vehicle - perhaps a misprint (number or type is wrong?), or the 4 vehicles are tacked onto a platoon for ah-hoc transport and used mainly for some scouts and the fire support section?

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
I found this video on the 2 Anglians facebook.
https://video.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/...a5&oe=55BEDDC3
It is a Foxhound. Maybe you're right that the soldiers will walk and the vehicles are just there for support. It does seem odd that there are 4 sections and 4 vehicles though and the fact that they're called 'mobility infantry'.

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
a platoon operating as multiples in a COIN situation may have 1 in base (or doing leg patrol) and one out on mobile ops.
A multiple is essentially a demi-platoon as I understand it.
4 of these could handle a multiple (half the sections, half of PL HQ, + attached specialists - interps, EOD, whatever and who likely bring their own wagon if mobile).

Does not look like that much room for stowage of kit operating with 6 men, less if you have 2 gunners taking those spots.
so - really only enough for 1x4 man brick in the back, so 4 vehicles can carry half a platoon only, plus 2x4 others from the platoon as drivers and co-drivers of the wagons.
I can only see this as operating half the platoon on foot (or in a base) and the other on patrol ops in the vehicles at one time.

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
It seems no one knows how the new units will work! I believe most are still using mastiffs.
Interesting article asking the same question (with some numbers) https://britisharmedforcesreview.wor...ntsbattalions/
Seems to me a lot of the "mobility" of these light role units will be the poor guys' feet...

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
I seem to think that there will be a lot of walking involved in the mobility. Maybe the TO&E hasn't been quite figured out yet but with 4 sections and 4 vehicles it would seem that they are all meant to be able to ride. But I'm no MOD planner...
On a side note, I noticed that the Foxhound in the game has "0" visibility but the 2nd link provided by Fastboat talks about it have some thermal imaging capability.

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
I think the one represented in game was the early version shipped to Afghan as UOR's or we just didnt know it's capabilities at the time.
I believe all armoured (even lightly) vehicles in the british army have some level of "night vision" capability although what game "number" to put on it I leave to wiser heads than mine.

Re: British Light Protected Mobility Infantry
It was discussed at the time I submitted it as the OCELOT that the TI equipment was an option I believe or Don would've it in. You can check the original source material in either the Fastboat Patch Page or MRAP (Might be easier here, as I transfer them to their "home" threads after I do a verification check on the released Patch.) Threads. I agree with Andy very tight for six mounts.

Pat
