USMC Raiders
It is official, the United States Marine's branch of the US Special Ops Command or MARSOC will be renamed as Raiders, according to an AP story published this morning, 2015-06-15. Good stuff for the game too. Move over SEALs there's a new bunch of bad asses in town.

Let us at least hope, the enemy does not confuse them with the other Raiders of the National Football League.

Re: USMC Raiders
Yep, already in the game.
Took a while some reliable information on their unit organization.
And NO ... they're not even close to SEALs.
Their primary function is to provide combat muscle when needed should someone like SEALs or Green Berets locate a juicy terrorist target that's just too much for them to handle with one of their standard raid type missions.
For example: The infamous incident in Mogadishu involving US Army Rangers that became the movie "Black Hawk Down" is just the sort of thing MARSOC is intended to do. While US Army Rangers are good troops they're not as well trained and equipped for urban warfare or counter-terrorism as MARSOC.

Re: USMC Raiders
Or I should have said they should be in the 2016 WinSPMBT update.
In the meanwhile you can use this.

There have been numerous announcements over the past several years of the re-naming of MARSOC units to Raiders, although as is understood, the MARSOC or Marine Special Operations Command remains as is. Subordinate units have now officially adopted the moniker, Raider.
And, yes thanks for clearing up the phantom Raider units in the current OOB...I'll take a peek at what you've uploaded for 2016 update. I would like to know, besides designating a unit as Raider, what distinguishes a Raider unit in the 2016 update.
And, yes the Raiders are new bad asses: "Real men wear silver and black!"

There was a LOT of resistance in from many quarters to renaming MARSOC "Raiders". Give their historical purpose/uses (reconnaissance and raiding) the current Force Recon is much more akin to the original "Raiders".
As to what makes them different, in WinSPMBT they come on a 7-man squad made of a 3-man "scout" and a 4-man "engineer" team with TI, fancy weapons, and a morale/exp bonus better the Recon but less then SEALs. Or you can buy an entire MARSOC company (3 squads plus FO, hv snipers, and a javelin) which it how they'd likely be deployed to support some special op.
