Default SEIV AI - has it improved?

I was wondering whether anyone can give an opinion about the ability of the AI with the latest patches.

I started playing SEIV in June Last year and found the AI to be just too easy to beat, not agressive enough and had a bad case of aneasia - it would keep sending fleets into the same situation over and over again when it should have realised that they wouldn't stand a chance.

I'd like to play again but would like to hear whether it gives a good game and which mods are likely to be the best.

Thanks

It has gotten smarter. I've had a few surprises in tactical combat of late. Ships are acting in ways they never did before. You can still out-maneuver it, though, because it has to draw its behavior from the scripts. The strategic level is difficult for any AI, and I don't think it's gotten much better at that level. Improvements in the available commands for the AI control files may be necessary to really improve its strategic performance.

Hi!

the same question i had Last year, too. The same reason to quit playing, as you.

But, try those mods! Try those mods! - With them the AI is really cool. With Version 1.49 and TDM-Modpack 2.0, this game rocks.

I play a game now, against Aquilian (dont know the exact name at the moment), and they kick my ***!!! I am loosing - yes, its unbelievebal, but i have big problems to defend my systems. Setting: AI-Difficulty: High, AI-Bonus: none!!!

Greetings from Germany
