Default Future SEIVG support

While many of you seem to expect future support including patches from MM, I am not so sure. Very few gold Versions of games in this industry see support. Richard has promised no Platinum Version, so this means future patches will probably not continue for a full year. After all, support is not a profit center, especially if it will not lead to a new Version. Does anyone know if MM has committed to future patches?

Not that I have seen. But I expect that there will be a number of patches to fix up bugs in Gold and continuing to add minor changes.

After they get everything working, or as working as it's going to get, I expect the patches will peter out and MM will move onto new products.

This is what happened back in SE3 days. Sooner or later the time comes to close it out and move on.

SEIV Gold will continue to receive the same great support Aaron has done for SEIII and SEIV classic. There is no reason to think otherwise. Instead of basing your opinion on what other software companies have done, you shold look at the past performance of Malfador and Shrapnel. They are not typical for the industry. He is already working on the next patch.

Based upon experiance and work in this community, I'm certain SE4 Gold Patches will continue to the better part of next year. We'll most likely have about 4-6 in the next 6 months and it'll drop off to under 4 every 6 months after.

I also know, based on the august 2001 interview with MM (I really should post that... later) that MM is going to create new games over the course of the year and next.

No one can say how many patches there will be for SE4G but there will be definitely some. There are some features left the modders would like to have included and Aaron already said that at least some of them will be part of a patch to come after Gold has been released.

Okay I can tell you this much we expect to support SE:IV Gold as the final SE:IV game for quite awhile.

As far as we go Aaron has another NON SE:IV game that will come out towards summer, then a new twist on the SE series that we plan to have out by the end of this year. If that all is succesful the plan is to start on SE:V later this year, but we have no ETA on it's completion.

And no I won't get into a lot of details on Aaron's new game....yet. As far as the other SE game I will only say this (and yes that's all I will say for now) but it will be a game set in the SE universe but not a 4X Turned based game. And no Hadrian it isn't a MMO game either .
