Default Tech Levels

What is the calculation for research points per tech level. For instance, if it takes 10000 points to research level 1, how many does it take for level 2, 3, 4, and so on. Thanks!

It's a fomula based on the tech cost setting for the game and tech level. We worked it all out a while back.

Level 3 cost is 10000 X 3 = 30000

The multiplier is the result of Tech Level rasied to the power of 2 and then divided by 2.

For example, Ship Construction again
Level 2 cost is 10000 X 2(2 to the power of 2 is four divided by 2 is 2) = 20000
Level 3 cost is 10000 X 4.5(3 to the power of 2 is 9 divided by 2 is 4.5) = 45000
Level 4 cost is 10000 X 8(4 to the power of 2 is 16 divided by 2 is 8) = 80000


For a High Tech cost game the multiplier is
Tech level raised to the power of 2

Ship Construction again
Level 2 cost is 10000 X 4(2 to the power of 2 is 4) = 40000
Level 3 cost is 10000 X 9(3 to the power of 2 is 9) = 90000
Level 4 cost is 10000 X 16(4 to the power of 2 is 16) = 160000

Yeppers. I have never heard of anyone playing a high tech cost game. I would imagine it would slow things down quite a bit.

I'm playing one right now actually... turn 142

My tech lowdown:
84k points per turn, research III
Gas Colony
Ice Colony
Rock Colony
ShipCon 6
Troops 3
Space Yards 2
Cargo 3
Repair 3
Propulsion 6
Shields 5
Sensors 1
Combat Support 1
Minerals Ex. 2
Organics 1
Radioactives 1
Intel 2
Stellar Harnessing 1
Energy Stream 5 (180,000 cost..)
PD 4

EDIT: I'm score #1, my allies the Toltayan's 2nd, my other allies the Phrong 4th. Other races include the Drusaka- who despite being "brotherly" are at war with me, and refuse my treaties-, the Amon'Krie, and the terrans. The terrans have been at war with my since they build there first ship. I've got them bottled up in a one-system hole and have been fighting them the entire game. Could have glassed them a loong time ago, but I want those homeworlds.

If you're wonderinf how I'm sweeping- I took a page from In Death Ground and have been minesweeping with old, small ships and purpose-build suicide escorts. Well, not so much "sweeping" as bludgoing the field to death, but it does work.

and now it's 2415.7, and I've bludgoned the Terran's into surrendering. Also dropped a pair of neutrals, but that is a mere nothing..especially since they're on the other side of the galaxy and my ally was ripping their guts out

Hmm.. you only get one (1) in each tech level your victim had when they went down. Terran's were using CSM Vs, but I only gained CSM II

Annnnd there goes the Last neutral. Amazing what dumping 1500kt of troops onto their homeworld will do.. 2416.8, 151k research.

that's just what *I* did, no surrender stuff. So in 20 turns, I gained ~15 techs.
