Setting formation to AI control
Sometimes - if a formation has to travel a long distance or if it is a very big scenario (I do not like micro-management), I like using setting formation-waypoints and putting it under AI control.
I do not fully understand what happens after there is no waypoint left. Does then the AI unit more or less 'defend' its current location or does it act as it would be completely under AI control - that is trying to achieve victory points?
Actually, I think I have seen both behaviors. I played a generated Air Cavalry(Vietnam era) scenario and it was quite funny that the AI loaded my troops into the helos and moved it to another place - although obviously it was not the intention, which I had in mind
Thx.

Re: Setting formation to AI control
Once you run out of way points the AI will try to deal with events based on the type of battle it is but it's also possible for it to become "confused"
Generally though, if you have the unit under AI control with way points it will continue doing what it would have done after the waypoints run out as if it had got there it's own way so if you end up near V hexes that are free after the waypoints run out and it's advancing it should try to take them.
I assume then you've read the waypoints tutorial in the game guide?

Re: Setting formation to AI control
Yup, I've read that tutorial.
If I not missed that feature in the doc: Is there any chance that you might add the possibility to switch on the way points in the main map so that there is no need to go to the formation HQ screen?

Re: Setting formation to AI control
Here's a hint,
If you are into large forces, just buy the CD,
Then you can organize your forces in formations and attack by using the 5 key, and stop being so cheap.
