I brought this up a while back and it went no where. So here I am, bring it up again.

Best Race Creator (BRC)

Best AI Creator (BAiC)

Best Fan Site (BFS)

How about a "Best Utility" award

Sure, in fact, if you can think of good awards, postem. But from the looks of this thread, this will be a wasted effort.

Well, I guess this is the thread to gush all over to those people in the game I admire.

But seriously, I will take a 'crack' at some of the mentioned awards.

MVP award: TIE, between all the top guys of the original TDM-Modpack..These guys work above and beyond the call of duty! These are the modds to aspire too!

Game Champion- why that could only be Atrocities himself, few put in the enthusiasm and devotion he does, even in times of 'not so good' health.

'Best of the Best' (2nd Champion): Hadrian, good god, just look at the Ultimate Modd and there is very little else to say but 'Ultimate....'

Best Race Creator: Andres and his brother Damian of Kuat Drive Yards. Key word here, VARIETY!! From the EEEvil Empire for myself to the Cepholopeian Kingdom to the various Star Wars races. Seldom have I seen such variety and imagination. (take a look at his rendition of the Y'Gath for me, damn fine site!! .)

Best AI creator: Daynarr, his Xi'Chung still make me quake in my boots. (runner up and almost close tie, Alpha Kodiak, the Rage and Aquilaians are included in most of my games, damn scary dudes)

Best Fan Site: Universal Ship Yards, they have it all, kudo's to John Beech for such a fine site. Its definitly on my bookmarked list.

Best Gaming Site: Hadrians site, tonnes of info and stuff for all things se4.

Best New Race: Hands down the Vikings win this one. From its inception to its completion this was one race to watch! Thanks Rollo and Dogscoff for one damn fine race.

Best Specialty Race: The races of Babylon 5 (the Narn and the Earth Alliance), some of the first and the ones that inspired me to really get into this game (plus the fun of facing off against the Empire and the Borg from the Babylon 5 battlestation.....the stuff of fan fiction come true!)

Well enough gushing, there are tonnes of others I admire on this site and in this game (way too many to mention, but this 'award' thread was a start)

Let me throw in some game champion contenders.

The guys who put together Play by Web have to get an immense about of credit. Playing humans makes this game approximately 1000% more interesting and they have made it easy for many people to get together. Perhaps this should run in the best utility Category. (sorry Matryx!)

Closely linked to them is Geoschmo. Not only has he arranged tournaments and had lots of good postings, he ended up being a moderator on this board. Getting to be the moderator has to indicate both his good nature, his hard work and his love of the game. Even if he didn’t like what I said about Afghanistan after Sept. 11, he still gets my vote. Oh, I also liked his Space 1999 scenario.

Suicide Junkie has consistently posted informed and detailed replies to Posts, wrote some entertaining fiction which was posted on Hadrian’s site and created a little known mod known as Pirates and Nomads. Look at the number of Posts and the continual reappearance of “It’s a Pirates life for me” to get an idea on the strength of this mod. I think he builds some odd ships (internal bulkheads making a ship unkillable?) but his creativity and ability to implement his ideas deserves high commendation.

Alpha Kodiak, previously mentioned, gets my vote for creating AI races. For a while, the Rage were the benchmark by which all others were evaluated and he then came out with a second strong race. While my knowledge of the early days is misty, it seems that he pioneered a lot of the early AI techniques and many of the great races which came later are based upon his discoveries and experiements.

Deathstalker gets the Literary Award, as I went and hunted down the Deathstalker series and have been enjoying it.

I greatly appreciate the mentions I have received. I did want to set the record straight on a couple of points.

First, the Aquilaeians were put together by Master Belisarius, who has made some excellent races. I don't want to take credit for something I didn't do!

Second, I owe much of my early success with the Rage to the groundwork by Mephisto, Tampa Gamer and Daynarr.

Now my nominees:

MVP: I'm with Deathstalker on this - tie between Tampa, Mephisto and Daynarr, who together had an unbelievable impact in the organization of mods.

Best of the Best: The PBW guys! (Copied from their web page)

George (geoschmo): Lead Game Administrator
Doug (The Admiral): Lead Programmer, Systems Developer, Administrator, and Creator
Eric (LazarusLong42): User Interface Designer and Administrator
Jim (jimbob55): Game Administrator
Terry (toy4x4): Game Administrator
Phil (Gimboid): Game Administrator and FAQ Administrator
Georgi (georgig): 1.30 Popup Destroyer, Admin Emeritus

They made multiplayer accessible to all of us who didn't want to figure out how to get involved in PBEM.

The final nomination I want to make is for the best, most helpful, most civil forum community I have ever encountered - this one!
