Default Designated Marksman in UK OOB

I notice that some of the squads now have designated marksman equipped with a sniper rifle. I have been reading about a new rifle the L129Al which is replacing the L96. Will this affect the stats of the 'sniper rifle'? The L129 has a 20 round magazine, but supposedly has similar range performance to the L96. Is there a rate of fire in the weapon stats or is this controlled solely in unit stats?

Anyway I was reading about the new rifle and wanting to model it.

Sections, not squads. Squads do foot drill or peel potatoes...

The "sniper rifle" weapon if issued to a normal infantry element is a DMR. It uses the section's FC, RF and vision. The UK sections with a S/R are those with the L129. Or they could have another of the available weapons in the same category, does not matter.

A sniper rifle in a sniper element has the extra fire control and range finder of that element (if issued), and perhaps a different vision. Plus a sniper element has different characteristics from a blundering section of squaddies as well . Which he gets even if not equipped with a proper sniping rifle (as in some OOBs).

We do not care if it is bolt action, semi or whatever. All are sniper rifles. They are equivalent at the battalion level. All have 6 default shots at default experience level.

Cheers
Andy
