dom3minions and new players

Hi folks,

There have been quite a few new players coming to IRC after trying to play on dom3minions and waiting for games to start. There are some misunderstandings.

First, dom3minions does not have a lobby. So if you want to talk to the other players you have to use this forum or IRC. The ingame messaging can't be used until a game starts. What this means is that if you just join a game and don't know who the other players joining are you could sit and wait forever.

Simply put: Don't just join dom3minions and wait for players. Organize it first either here or on IRC. dom3minions is a fine server and great for direct connect games. But do yourself a favour and organize your games before hand.

Every once in awhile I post something along that line.

NEW PEOPLE....
the same person CAN host, and administrate, a dominions game. If you want to do that, great.

OR those can be separate. There are options for a game hosting on LLamaserver.net (play by email games) or Dom3Minions.com (direct connect, plays like a solo game but can include multiple players). The administrating part includes some things like creating a thread here about the game to announce it, get people to join, settle disputes, contact the server hosting the game if you want changes such as setting someone AI or changing the hosting times.

I know you bump discussion about dom3minions Gandalf. Just posted because we've had a lot of new folks on IRC and that's great but they've been confused. Just giving a heads up to any others.
