Trouble with 640 x 480 resolution
I use an old monitor, that -- as far as I know -- can't handle any resolution higher than 640 x 480.
WinSPWW2 has worked fine before on the same computer (when I used a more modern monitor), but when I try to start it now, I get a message saying, "640 screen can only be set to 640 wide full-screen mode".
If I click on OK, I just get the same message.
Is there any way I can make it work, without replacing the monitor?

Re: Trouble with 640 x 480 resolution
I am not sure whether it works so please make a backup first.
Under "Game Data" directory there is a file named "CamoGame.ini". Open it with a PURE TEXT editor (e.g., notepad).
Check "LaunchInFullScreen" in "screen" section. The value should be 1.
Then check "ScreenWidth" also in "screen" section. Set it to 640.
Good luck.

Is this with windowed mode set in the gameoptions programme?. If so, then set the game mode option to full screen.
If the problem still exists - or it is already set for full screen 640 mode directx - then your new old monitor has some problems with 640 mode.

Re: Trouble with 640 x 480 resolution
Ironfist: I have tried to do as you wrote. It didn't work, but thanks anyway.
Mobhack: I can't open GameOptions, but I've tried changing the CamoGame.ini file, and it doesn't work in full screen mode, or in windowed mode.
It says VGA on the back of the monitor, so I don't think it should have any difficulties with 640 x 480 resolution.

If all else fails. Uninstall and reinstall might take far less time and aggravation
Good luck!

If it is a very old monitor then VGA drivers on it may not be available?. 640 by 480 is super VGA (I think) if I recall my 1980s level of MSDOS knowledge. VGA was 320 by something 16 colour mode?. If that monitor is that old, it is useless.
if the game options programme does not even come up - then it cannot handle 16 bit colour. So likely not even SVGA
I would find a monitor that is more modern that 1990 or whatever date it was.

Mobhack/Andy: I think SVGA is 800 x 600 or higher. 640 x 480 is, as far as I know, a standard graphics mode for VGA. Most programs seem to work fine with the monitor. I checked the resolution on the web, and it confirms that the monitor is currently using 640 x 480 resolution. But, I guess I'll have to abstain from winSPWW2 as long as I'm using the "new old" monitor. It's not a big deal -- I've been using the free version of the game, but thank you for your feedback, and if you are the Andy that helped develop winSPWW2, I want to thank you for the work you've done.

Re: Trouble with 640 x 480 resolution
I seem to recall instances way in the past where the resolution had to be set one above the actual one used.
Try this.
Open the CamoGame.ini and manually change ScreenWidth to ScreenWidth=800
Save it then try running the game from GameOptions.exe.
If that doesn't work try running the game directly from the WinSPWW2.exe
If that doesn't work rename your existing CamoGame.ini to XCamoGame.ini then try starting the game with GameOptions.exe. If it starts go through game options and set each bit the way you want it and a new Camogame.ini will be created when you exit.
If none of that works I'm pretty much out of ideas

I tried it, but it didn't work. I used a freshly downloaded game, so there was no need to change the screen width. When I try to run the game directly from WinSPWW2.exe, the first picture looks fine, but then it gets messed up. I guess the game goes into 800 x 600 resolution.
If I'm not mistaken, WW2GameOptions.exe starts in windowed mode, and I believe the resolution (in the window) is 640 x 480; if that's the case, I don't think it's possible to start the game in the normal fashion using a monitor that doesn't have 800 x 600 resolution or higher.
I think we'd better give up on this, but I thank you for trying to help.

Re: Trouble with 640 x 480 resolution
Did you try running it with the camogame.ini renamed or removed ? That starts everything fresh
