Default engineer ability

It is mentioned in GG that engineers can do "DT". What does DT stand for?

Do engineers have special ability in blowing bunkers, etc? Or they are good at it because they are equipped with satchel charges? Any special ability (not related with equipment) for engineers beside clearing mines better and faster?

Another question is that do the FC and FC of a unit apply to all the weapons of the unit?

Well, looking at the engineering stores you can buy in the defence, you get barbed wire, mines, trenches and Dragons Teeth...

Engineers are not routinely equipped with satchel charges or flamethrowers. Those are kit. The engineer classes have no special bunker assault modifiers over normal infantry. They do clear mines/wire etc at a better rate, and can do so from the adjacent hex (if left facing the mine hex) at a lesser rate and can clear D/T obstacles (cannot recall if they need to enter the same hex for those) which ordinary guys cannot.

The Range Finder, Fire Control and Vision etc of a counter apply to all weapon slots of that counter. That is why an M1 MBT can shoot up grunts with its exposed commanders/loaders pintle AAMG with full benefit of the Thermal Imaging sights.

Cheers
Andy

They can clean D/T from adjacent Hex.

DT means dragon's teeth. IIRC, it's a tank obstacle designed to tear up the tank underbelly, which looks somewhat like teeth.

It's first to limit their movement (slow them down), so infantry or fixed AT weapons can be made to bear on the weak points of a near stationary target.
Second, possibly lose a few to broken tracks.
Certainly not made for tanks to roll over, but rather around.

Apparently not very efficient, and easily disposed of by engineers and infantry, since they're made of concrete (satchel charge)

The disposal depends on whether it is normal or rein. concrete, if it's reinforced, then it can take quite a lot to destroy it. OTOH they are usually designed to be somewhat portable, so it is not neccessary to destroy them, pulling them aside might be enough (if tricky, they might be mined).
Similar concrete obstacles werre tested prior to WW2 in Czechoslovakia but were found to be insufficient, as they were relatively fragile, yet huge and they would provide cover to enemy infantry.
EDIT: Of course, in SP, the Dragon Teeth represent any type of AT obstracle you like, be it real DT, or steel hedgehogs, or whatever.

since engineers would blow them up this would bring another question, why can't we drop arty in DT to reduce their numbers?same thing with mines,is this a 10 year old code limitation or too much trouble for small (if any) benefit?

DRG will become famous soon enough
Default Re: engineer ability

Becasue dropping arty on things like DT is NOT the same as a carefully placed demo charge. Same thing applies to mines.

The Steel Panthers 3 allowed for mines to be blown by arty. Was too effective - fro assault mission you almost won't need engineers for anything except minefield detection (or if you accepted casaulties of "sacrifice" units, not efen that), and a battery of heavy artillery.
