Most of us play with the sound on, so if the following six fixes could be implemented - even if it was over a period of time – there would be many grateful fans.
I know the sounds have not been a priority, but if you have in mind to upgrade the sounds, this is where I would start.
Water Craft
Most ships and landing craft are currently assigned to sound 34 (the wheeled vehicle sound). Some Barges (I noticed in MBT) are assigned to the more appropriate sound 232.
1. Recommend assigning all ships and motor-craft to sound 232.
Infantry assault boats (row boats) appear to be correctly assigned to sound 38
Propeller Aircraft
All propeller aircraft (except Spotter Planes) currently use sound 7.
Bombers and Transport aircraft use sound 7 again and again, so it runs over itself, which is rather annoying.
2. Recommend the playing of the aircraft sound over and over again is stopped.
All aircraft should only have their sound played once as they enter the map and once as they leave the map. Or if it’s much easier, only have the sound played as the aircraft enters the map. Hopefully this is a relatively simple code fix. As if there is such a thing
3. Recommend Bombers and Transport Planes use one of the multi-engine sounds already built into the game, instead of all using the fighter aircraft sound 7.
Fighters (single engine prop planes) should continue to use sound 7.
Bombers (multi-engine) could use sound 247
Transport aircraft (multi-engine) could use sound 18 or 245
Spotter Planes
Spotter planes use sound 203. This sound is played when the aircraft enters the map, whenever it makes a turn as it circles, and when it leaves the map (so the sound runs over itself).
4. Recommend Spotter Plane sound is played on entrance and exit only.
Jet Aircraft
Jet aircraft all use sound 84. Jet Bombers use it over and over again.
5. Recommend Jet Bombers (multi-engine jets) only use the sound on entrance and exit.
Jet Fighters (single engine jets) should continue to use sound 84.
6. Recommend Jet Bombers (multi-engine jets) use sound 201
Upon reflection, three of my six suggestions are just to put a stop to the practice of aircraft playing sounds over and over again.
Cheers,
Cross
