Default LlamaServer now has a Donate button

Hrmm, well I feel slightly uncomfortable posting this in a way. I hope people won't think me mercenary.

Recently I've had quite a few requests from people to add a way to donate money towards the LlamaServer. To be honest I've been quite taken aback by this generosity. However, people have continued asking, so...

The total cost to me for the LlamaServer has probably been around £300. Most of that money is on the little computer itself (it's a Shuttle XPC, for those who're interested), plus various bits and bobs for a splitter, the web hosting and so on. Now, I have to say I paid that myself quite happily - money well spent really. I've had lots of fun working on the project. However, as a PhD student on rather limited funding, I guess I'd be a bit silly to refuse if people are offering to donate a little money towards the cost, or simply to buy me a beer because they find it helpful.

I really feel I should emphasise that the running costs for the LlamaServer are very low, and I can easily afford to maintain it indefinitely. It was always intended as a free service and will always remain so. I really really really wouldn't want people to feel obliged to pay money to use it.

Er, so it's here: http://pledgie.com/campaigns/1716

I think its good that you have a donate button. It doesnt take much to put in a couple of bucks every time you join a game. And if you add that all up for all the players in all the games then it will probably cover the server and the maintainence.

LLama, well said and nicely done. The conversion rate is a killer but hopefully you can get a couple pints with my tip. Thanks and cheers from the Left Coast!

I couldn't play in, like, 8 games at once if it weren't for Llamaserver. Best thing to happen to Dom 3 since automatic site searching
