Scenario Editor - Is there a chance to get rid off the A0 Headquarter unit?
Hi everbody,
I am new in this forum, but I am playing WINSPBMT and all its predeceesors (Steel Panthers I, II, III, SPWAW) for quite some time.
At moment I am trying to "rework" and "reuse" the Silver Lions campaign, by using different opponents, e.g.: West Germany vs. Russia. My plan was to "keep" (with only slight modifications) all the maps, all aux units and the Player 2 (Russia) forces and substitute the US core Forces with (equivalent) West German forces.
To do so, I load the single scenarios into the scenario editor and change Player1 from US to West Germany and delete the US core forces. Than I "buy" West Germany forces and deploy them.
So far so good. It works pretty well with one exception:
I cannot get rid of the US A0 unit.
Now my question:
Is there any chance or trick to get of rid (or substitue) the original A0 unit?
Of course I could alter the US A0 unit to a unit picked from West Germanys OOB, but nevertheless A0 is still an US unit. Any idea or thought?
Thank you in advance,
Engel

The HQ and nation will be as for the original scenario purchase. You really need to start from scratch again to renationalise a scenario. Even if you did change the A0 to another nation, I would bet that when it came to upgrades etc in the campaign, it would assume "USA" as the original player 1 nation.
So - best to extract the maps, and then rebuild each scenario in the User Campaign from the ground up using those.

Have you tried changing the campaign nation in the campaign editor? And if that doesn't achieve the results you are looking for, you could always just create a new mission 1 for the campaign from scratch with player 1 as Germany with only 1 turn and nothing happening. And from that mission proceed to the proper mission 1 one of the campaing. There's a conviniently placed open mission slot in the campaign just between mission 1 and mission 2, which you could probably move the original mission 1 to.

Ok after some testing, I've got your solution. You need to remake the first scenario from scratch, using Germany as player one nation, and also remember to change the campaign nation to Germany. That'll make your core and A0 German for the entirety of the campaign, as well as your V-hexes.

If you have the CD version nationalities can be changed easily with Scenhack but even with the stock game changing the HQ from US to Germany is a simple matter of deleting all the units you do not want then saving the sceanrio as Germany ( for example ) . Once that's done reload the sceanrio, click on Deploy then press "R" then click on "Infantry" and scroll until you find the German HQ then save.
Once that's all done reload the scenario and your HQ will now be German and show a German ID tag. After that you can alter the unit data by pressing "D"
(NOTE: if you check the HQ in depoly BEFORE saving the second time it will still show as being the US HQ....you have to save the entire sceanrio first before the change kicks in )

Re: Scenario Editor - Is there a chance to get rid off the A0 Headquarter unit?
Hello together,
thank all of you for your attention and the hints you gave me. In fact Dons reply solved my problem. Quite stupid of me to overlook the Scenhack utility! Also the other (save/load) solution seems to work.
By the way I already build up a first "come together" scenario from scratch and therfore I was able to proceed in campaign game with my core forces, but I was annoyed that I could not change the A0 unit in scenario design.
my thanx to all of you,
Engel
