Default An unimportant question for the Gods of SPMBT

#1 This is the best wargame ever! , best regards to the programmers involved!

Why don't the ammo carriers have infinite ammo?
I know they wouldn't in real-life, but in game terms shouldn't they? Please don't say "It's too hard to program". After all I paid for both games as did many others!

They HAVE infinite ammo as far as I know, they just don't load all adjacent units at once.

Wait, you actually want the game to make less sense?

Why? They are not meant to fight directly, the weapon (when they have any) is pure self-defence - so adding unlimited ammo would be a) abundant, b) would delay actual reloading of other units anytime the ammo carrier would shoot at aircrafts say, etc.

your right marek, I didn't think of it from that angle, but in real life wouldnt the .50 bullets be on the vehicle it self so it could use its own supply?

IRL most ammo carriers won't be armed and if armed will be carrying different kind of ammo and even if they carried right ammo, they'd be frowned upon if they did take their cargo on their leisure barring extremely critical situation - the point of armament on armed ammo carriers is IRL to defend against say sudden ambush and gain time to drive away, not to stay and duke it out. And if ammo carrier reaches its destination with 10 attackers killed but without its load, I think the commander of its target unit won't be overly happy with the crew

My father-in-law drove an ammo truck in Korea. He's passed on now but from what I recall and the pictures we have I'm not sure that he even carried a sidearm. If things got hot his plan was to run away before the truck went sky-high with him in it. I think the ammo guys are more sensible than Rambo-heroic! There was probably some sort of shotgun or rifle in the cab but the firepower would have come from supporting units in the convoy. He claimed he was never much of a shot anyway!

Don't hesitate to ask any question or share any idea, the community here is full of knowledgeable people (I have learned a lot about real world tactics and its application to Steel Panthers). And most of all, enjoy the game!
