Re: Air Strikes - how many?
1) About 12 (transport helos bought do not affect strike allocation though you must have 1 strike remaining to buy air transport)
2) Each nation has an air rating, and that can vary by the year (WW2) or decade (MBT). The amount of air strikes depends on the ratio of the 2 sides. WW2 also has special code for air strikes based on the campaign sometimes (e.g Kursk, or in 44-45 the Allies can get even more, or at least a minimum allocation, if the weather is good enough). Air parity (1 or 2 strikes each) can happen - unlike the original SP engine where if you had the air then you knew you did not need any flak. When visibility is under 20, the chances of air support diminish.
3) The air power preferences settings are ignored in campaigns - human intervention is not allowed. Campaigns are always "XXX" for both players, other than scripted campaigns, where the designer can allocate the air support for each battle, up to the max of (?)99.
