Umbrals....
These seem pretty tough Especially in large groups and in mp. Decent mr, high hp, ethereal....
Any ideas on what works well against them?

Re: Umbrals....
Against them? I was going to suggest casting strength of giants on them to boost that nifty drain life.
Hmmm...
How about control undead? If that fails Flame Storm should work nicely.

Re: Umbrals....
Standard undead killers.... Communioned priests with Spell Focuses or Eyes of the Void, Flambeaus, Cleansing Water, etc.
Considering that they have no armor and are large, Flaming Arrows will cut through them pretty well (it makes the arrows magic so they defeat ethereals).
They should go down pretty easy if you just prevent Agartha from casting an armoring spell.

Re: Umbrals....
Edit: Pretty much what K said. Umbral MR is 16, so you need a communion for Banishment to do much good.
Flaming Arrows is good, or if you don't have that, Dust to Dust, or Wither Bones, or Lightning.
Plus, their attack is a single Life Drain, they can only kill one unit a turn. So use lifeless units (some undead, elementals, golems/statues) to hold them back and keep them from regenerating while they fight. Skelly spam will do fine.
What nation are you?

He's Arco, I'm the Umbral using Agartha in question.
Most of these counters will be useless against my Army of Lead Umbrals. Besides, I have plenty of other troops, mundane and magical, to diffuse any particular strategy you employ.

Re: Umbrals....
Except if Agartha gets Army of Gold up. That stops the fire damage nicely. On the other hand, Army of Lead would boost their magic resistance, negating control undead...
I don't think Umbrals are cold-blooded, but the living Agarthans are. Cast Wolven Winter where you're going to fight, and enjoy horribly screwing over Agartha's mages.
If you can manage to collect something Umbrals can't hit and can't drain life from, you're pretty good. I don't remember if their attack is magical, but ghosts or other quality death summons should do nicely.

Re: Umbrals....
A few golems dual wielding Eye Shields and Charcoal Shields, with Boots of the Behemoth, might make a good defensive line.
Eye Shields are always a good plan versus Agartha.

Re: Umbrals....
I have heard that if you give Darkstone all your provinces, gems and magic items, he might stop sending umbrals against you. I am not sure that is the solution you are looking for though...

And just what makes you think its our game
But just in case it is, I have to try something. Besides hopefully you are running out of Army of Lead casters on the front lines at least....
Can they be Soul Slayed at all? I have many more astral mages than banishing priests. Almost as many as he has Umbrals in fact.
Do you know all those Sirrushs I summoned are beginning to look like a waste of gems They sure are big and green though
