Affordable Hosting Sites
The hosting company that hosts www.astempire.net is going out of business. (no wonder given their business practices) so I am in need of a new home. I have looked over the plans that www.godaddy.com has to offer and well, they seem kinda sleazy to me. (to much stuff that I don't know about and way to many "hidden costs")
So do any of you have any recommendations? $10.00 or less a month.

Re: Affordable Hosting Sites
I've used ICDsoft for the last 3 years with no problems whatsoever. $60 US per year. That gets you 600Mb storage and 20Gb bandwidth per month.

Re: Affordable Hosting Sites
I've been using www.hostgator.com for a while, so far I've only had one problem and they resolved it as soon as I asked them about it. It's a bit more expensive than what Kwok suggested, but if for some reason you need a lot more bandwidth (3TB for the $9/mo servers), it's a great deal.
If you're planning on hosting something for a long time, they also offer cheaper rates, down to $5/mo.

Re: Affordable Hosting Sites
Be very wary of any company offering huge amounts of service for low fees... 3TB transfer for $9/month is something I'd consider a warning sign of rampant overselling. 350 GB of disk space makes the offering even more suspect (there is no way any company could afford to actually provide that much space and bandwidth for the listed $5/month on the site). Make sure to do ample research of any host on sites such as Webhosting Talk for complaints and issues with service before signing up with anyone. The adage "you get what you pay for" is extremely true in the world of web hosting.

Re: Affordable Hosting Sites
I've been using Godaddy for a year for my own hosting, and I've setup two other people with websites that they have for their small businesses. The interface is a little cluttered, but other than that I've had no complaints. Once you get used to where everything is, it's not too bad.
I get 150GB disk space and 1.5TB bandwidth for 6.99 a month.
To be honest I don't have a lot of experience with other sites, so maybe I'm not the best judge, but my experience with them has been positive.

Re: Affordable Hosting Sites
That's a lot of overselling... you should fill up that disk space to make them work for their money.
