Hi All,
just out of curiosity - how the hit location on vehicles is determined? I have figured out by testing, that hull is hit twice as often than turret. With the obvious exception of hull-down positions, where only turret can be hit. But I was not able to determine the probability of hitting front/rear or side of the vehicle. I am preparing a little manual of tank warfare in WinSP series and this last bit of information I miss, unfortunately (the rest of data, like penetration vs. distance for AP or APCR I more or less guessed by testing and regressing the results). First I hoped, that I could involve some analytical work into the "manual", e.g. immunity zones of the tanks against some typical weapons etc. As I said, the only big variable I do not know is the distribution between front/rear and side hits, which is great factor in assessing survivability from HEAT attack.
So, if anybody knows and can say something useful about distribution of hits between side and front/rear of the vehicle, I would be very glad to hear it
Now I can only say, that probability of hitting front with 5 degree deflection is probably greater than hitting side with 85 degrees deflection, but I do not know it for sure and I am not able to quantify it, so that it might be included in survivability computations.
Thanks in advance for any answer,
