Frustrated with PBW!!!
Something's going wrong with the PBW server? I'm having great difficulties creating games. I kept getting that stupid "sorry, could not create game." error message that doesn't tell me what's going wrong. (reminds me of that other hair-pulling error message I got before trying to register) I actually managed to create a game after a few attempts, deleted it, tried to recreate it with exactly the same details and failed! I've tried many different combinations of file names and passwords from 6 to 10 charaters, tried logging out then logging back in, even tried rebooting my computer but still, the error message was there. HELP NEEDED!

Re: Frustrated with PBW!!!
CW,
I also have aswered this in the PBW bug reports forum but in case any one here is wondering, there is no problem with PBW.
I am not sure about the initial difficulty you were having, but if you are trying to add a game with EXACTLY the same game name and/or filename as one you deleted, that is the problem now.
PBW cannot have two different games with the same game name or filename. The one you deleted would still be on the system until it gets purged (That's an admin function, not something you do) and so no games with those names will be able to be setup.
There are also some characters that are invalid to be used for game filenames on PBW. That could have been the inital problem.

Re: Frustrated with PBW!!!
Thank you geoschmo. I finally managed to get my game going. Would you like me to delete this thread?

Re: Frustrated with PBW!!!
While I too have had some frustrations with PBW...right now I'm not getting emailed turns... I would like to say that I think the PBW folks do a great job. And the price is great too.
There are a lot of really nice touches to the site: for example, being able to surpress attachments for those with limited mail space or displaying the name of the .plr file you are to upload so you can get the correct one. And the response when I have had problems (usually self-inflicted) has been tremendous.
Without PBW I would have stopped playing
SE4 almost as soon as I started. Now I have a wide choice of games to play against very able opponents (sometimes a little too able).
Lots of thanks to the PBW folks.

Re: Frustrated with PBW!!!
No CW, no need to delete this. It may help someone else. And thanks Letharg for the nice comments.
We try to respond as quickly as possible to issues, but don't hesitate to question or complain on our forum, or here, if something is bothering you. If we don't get feedback on things we can't get them fixed.
The only thing we ask is that everyone understand that nobody at PBW is being paid for the work we do there. That's how we keep the price so low. We are all volunteers, and we all have jobs, and lives, and we like to spend some time playing too. We won't always get to your issue quickly, and we may sometimes give you an answer you don't like. (And occasionally one that is wrong. We do make mistakes unfortunatly. Well Admiral doesn't, but the rest of us are only human. ) But we do care, and we are trying to make PBW and Space Empires the best it can be.

Re: Frustrated with PBW!!!
Geo,if I havn't said it before I'll say it now. PBW is a GODSEND!! You guys are great, thanks to you I am getting more play time out of this game than any other game I have ever owned. (this includes Moo1/2, Baldurs Gate 1/2, Diablo 1/2, and perhaps even CIV original). You guys deserve a good Canadian Beer!!(and a raise!)
Oh, and another thanks (oddly) goes to the site avault.com. This is where I first saw a listing for this game, in demo form. The rest is instant obsession!
