Can't load scenarios...

Hullo everyone. I just downloaded SPMBT and I'm liking what I see so far. I'm especially pleased with the exstensive OB and scenarios for Rhodesia. I've been interested in the Rhodesian Bush War for a long time, and am glad to see that I'm not alone.

Anyway, I am having one small issue. The scenarios won't load. I select the scenario from the list, hit the "play" button, and get a message at the top of the screen saying "saved game not loaded".
What gives?

Trust me.......If everyone had this problem we would have heard about it before now.

First off, what version of the game is reported when you load it up ? Right at the bottom of the main screen in green is "WinSPMBT" and then a version number. If you have applied all the patches in the order they were issued it should say v3.5.

When / if you did apply the patches did you allow them to be extracted to the default location in the Program files directory or did you choose a different location ? If a different location are you sure all the patches were put in the exact same place as the initial game ?

The only way you could get a message like that is if the DAT files for the scenarios are not in the Scenarios folder OR you are trying to run new scenarios with an exe that is older than the scenarios are. The game is backwards compatible in that old scenarios will work with the newest EXE's but it is not forwards compatible where scenarios or save games made with the newest EXE's will not work generally with older EXE's.

One solution is to uninstall everthing you have done so far and then, carefully re-install the main game and then the patches in the order they were released. This has worked for others in the past. The sceanrios WILL load when everything is done correctly.

Thanks. The version when I load the game is still showing 2.0. This is despite the fact I downloaded and applied the patches in order. I'll uninstall everything and try to reload it. I'll tell you all if that does the trick.

That got it. I'm playin one of the Rhodesian scenarios now. I suppose I probably loaded a patch out of order or something.
