Converting Common Image files to RGB or TGA Files?
Im sure someone already talked about this somewhere in this forum but I was not able to find it. I did some research online and could not find anything either. Maybe I did not researched enough. Any ways I just wanted to see anyone tell me what softwares can convert common image files to RGB or TAG files OR a software that could create raw RGB or TGA Files.
THANKS

TGA (not TAG).
I use GIMP for creating raw files and for converting. It is free and powerful. There is also IrfanView which is a good image viewer and if I remember right can convert files.

IrfanView is nice. It's quick to open and to use.

I tend to use IrfanView also. Its a viewer (which will let you resave images to other formats). That makes it handy also for browing the maps in the maps directory since its one of the few Ive found that understands both RGB and TGA

Odd... I haven't been able to open RGBs with IfranView, though it does list RGB as a supported format in the help files. Maybe I have a corrupt/vista install?

Re: Converting Common Image files to RGB or TAG Fi
Oh well, I've got the GIMP and I know how to use it.
I can even type the above phrase without any second thoughts.
... I once checked a book about GIMP out of the library and got a few strange looks.
It is good to know you can google gimp and the first ten results will all be relevant and work safe.

See the second entry if the slang is unfamilar to you.

Re: Converting Common Image files to RGB or TAG Fi
I love the O'Reilly books on deeper internet stuff. As an admin for internet servers its kindof required to have a shelffull even if you dont read them. But I love their "cookbooks" which are great for slightly ADD people like me. Lots of short little answers to common problems.
And I get great looks when its a Linx Cookbook or an AWK Cookbook or Python Cookbook. I was thinking one day that a GIMP Cookbook might be fun to carry around also.
