shift in programming language
For those who were cross-developing with me, there is a slight shift in language.
A) YaBasic is no longer going to be supported by its author. So unless its passed on, I will be shifting.
B) the other Basic that is officially included in my server OS catalog (BWBASIC) is open source. But it seems to have little documentation and no support forums.
C) I considered DarkBasic. Since its a popular game developing package, hanging around in its forums might let me latch onto so devs to steer this way.
D) Conversation in the YaBasic forum is swinging toward BLASSIC. Looks good so far. It has a .deb for install and support on my debian servers. It has a Windows version. And will support source code written for many different versions of basic. The only (minor) hassle is that it has no compiler for providing map-modifying EXEs. However, a top rated compiler (HotBasic) looks like it might work for BLASSIC programs.
Other options are being considered but thats where things are at the moment.
