SE5 Password Bug

I just uncovered this bug with SE5. I've reported it to Malfador so hopefully it will be fixed in the next patch. I'm making it known so people can deal with it now.

If you forget to set an password when you create your empire, SE5 will allow you to open your turn no matter what you put in the password field. It doesn't require you to leave the field blank like it should. The result of this is you could be playing along turn to turn unaware you have no empire password because it will accept what you think the password should be the same as anything else or nothing.

If you find your empire has no password, you can change it in the empire options screen while doing your turn.

I fully expect some screaming and nashing of teeth about this one in PBW games. It's up to the players and the game owners of any affected games if it's an issue worth restarting over. It's also probably going to cause a few questions when the bug gets patched because anyone affected will suddenly be unable to open their turns with what they thought the password was.
