Helo Issue
Hi, Im ataching a saved game, note the two hinds that are marked as "retreating" but they have a suppresion level of 1, theyve been like that staying still for the last 2 or 3 turns but they wont flee. The problem is I havent been able to rally them because their level 1 supression, theyve become sitting ducks, is there any way to rally them back? am I missing something?
Regards
Robert

Re: Helo Issue
I've had the same problem a couple of times... the only way to un-freeze them again is when the enemy fires at them...

Suppression of 1 is of course nothing to do with your problem. Any unit which has had some combat will have a minimum suppression of 1, not 0 as a minimum for the rest of the battle.
Helo fly-away is determined by the damage level being >1. You cannot rally this away.
They are in auto-retreat due to being damaged, and should retire off-map in the end turn phase with other retreating troops (unless the code decides not to retreat them that turn).
Cheers
Andy

Thanks andy, so what you`re saying is helos could be damaged badly and still have a level 1 supression and they cant rally while damaged, is there any way to know how badly a helo is damaged? I thought the suppression meter told me that.

Robert

Re: Helo Issue
To know the damage level on any unit, right-click on it and look near the top of the data column, there should be a "damage" entry if it isn't null.
Suppression only tells you about, well, suppression, i.e. the morale state of your unit. As Andy said, you can rally suppression, but not repair damage, so the two are different things.

Re: Helo Issue
Thanks Plasma, I was aware of that entry though I didnt pay much atention to it, in this case it indicates a damage of "2" for my hinds, the same for a inmobilised tank, do you now whats the scale?
Regards
Robert

Re: Helo Issue
No idea if there's such thing as a scale to speak of.
AFAIK for infantry one damage is one man disabled, I guess you can apply the same at least to soft-skin vehicles and crewed weapons. For AFVs, either it's about this crew vvalue or survivability (i.e. a vehicle can take as much damage as it has survivability).
Airplane and helos are a special case, the amount of damage it can take is set by its "front hull steel" armor value IIRC, where different value are just on an abstract scale of this plane is more resilient than that one.
