Re: the birth of an empire
The Draconian Empire started it roots at the end of a great conflict, the place Hanon IX.
Different factions or houses controlled sections of the land. There was no central goverment. Wars had scarred the planet for over a thousand years. A few houses rose in power and consumed the small Groups. The planet could be said to be split into six major factions. The wars had caused major stress on the planets natural resources; food and fuel had begun to run out. Farm land was mostly contaminated and the water supply was reaching toxic levels. The Draconians were great warriors and had matched each other with powerful weopons. Yet these weopons would not only kill but would also make the land deadly to anyone trying to seattled on it.
One house saw the signs of this outcome and knew that if the wars continued that there would be no one left to fight them. It took a lot of work and in some cases brut force to convice the other powers that the planet and the Draconian people were heading for total distruction. A shaky peace was put in place and a new central goverment set up.
These goverment which was comprised of members from the six houses forced all minor house into submittion. The forced labor camps would be able to keep the planet alive for another 100 years.
In 2385, an young well liked Draconian rose to power. He conviced the other leaders to follow him by promising change on a scale that had never before been seen.
All that were loyal to him would be freed from the camps.
Over the next 10 years he put in place a number of policies to insure that he would remain in power. Some of the other houses wanted to break the peace, but knew they would be overpowered.
The main problem was that resources were still running out. The Draconian stories told of other planets in the system that were rich plant life. While there had been no research to confirm these stories, The Draconians knew that attempting to colonize those planets, maybe the key to saving them.
In the year 2400, the empire began constucting a protype colony ship.
