Change Elephant sound?
Hi everyone...Let's say that a certain unit's sound drives my wife crazy (and not in a good way) and I'd like to change it, how would I go about that? I tried to change the sound for the trunk weapon, but it didn't work. I think it is the trample sound that is the one I want to change.
Can anyone help me out, my dominions 3 time is at risk here if I can't figure it out.
Thanks!

Re: Change Elephant sound?
OMG. I thought I was the only one. My wife tells me it is the most horrible sound she has ever heard. When I am playing Bandar Log, I am required to turn the speakers off during batttle replays LOL. You are not alone when it comes to wife aggro from elephant sounds.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
I don't have a wife to tell me about this, but the trampling elephants got on my nervers so much that I am usually turning off the audio when there are elephants involved, too. If there is one or two of them, it's fine. If there are two dozen elephants trumpeting their cacophony unisono, it's hard to bear it.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
Good question. The only thing I can think of straight away is #clear and re-do all elephants. Elephants are easy to duplicate, just basic stat editing and few weapons, perhaps barding. #trample, #forestsurvival, #animal are their only special abilities IIRC.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
The problem is that if you do it as a mod, the host and the other players have to use it, too. Would be better if you could remove / replace the sound itself.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
I went to the game directory.
There was a subdirectory called rawsound.
There was a file in it called elefant.smb
Deleting or renaming that makes the game crash when the elephants attacked.
But I renamed it to -elefant.smb then copied the el.smb to elefant.smb
That was still a horrible sound but it worked. You can experiment for what sound you would prefer as a replacement.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
Nice. You should have gone in the other direction: emuller.smp is somewhat appropriate and doesn't strain the nerves as much.

Thank you! Thank you! That seems to work. Hopefully I won't get the "evil eye" tonight when I try to play!

Re: Change Elephant sound?
I hate the very noisy slinger firing en masse sounds and also the women screaming. Nice that they can be replaced by less irritating noises.

Re: Change Elephant sound?
I haven't tried it yet, but you can probably use the smp files included with COE2 as well.
