Default Help needed(FIXED thanks)

I am in process of making my first Dom3 mod. I have made several Dom2 mods without trouble.

Here is my problem, I made the mod and I am having trouble converting it to .DM from text. I am using Open office 2.0 and Vista. When I save from open office as a DM file it crases dominions with an error message saying "mod does not have #modname" But it does. See attached. Any body have advice?

PS I cannot rename file extensions, it just stays a txt file.. So it looks like "mod.dm.txt."

It needs to be a .dm

The first line looks valid to me.

I think you need to work out how to get rid of the ".txt" off the end. No idea how to do that on Vista though. It should be straightforward, but Microsoft might be trying to make your life "easy".

Show file extensions, rename? It's incredibly easy on my PC.

Yeah, I just mean because I haven't seen Vista yet, so it's a matter of finding the "show file extensions" option.

I had no problem with windows 98. But Vista insists on putting .txt on the end automatically when I rename. I will look harder for Show file extensions. this is frustrating.

Open Office allows me to save w/o file extensions, but then Dominions cannot read the file. Formatting issue I assume.

When you do "Save As" in Open Office, click on "File Typ2", and select "Text file" or some such, with the default extension of "txt". Then turn off automatic file extensions, and save it as "whatever.dm". This will make Open Office save it in plain text rather than whatever format it normally uses, so Dominions will be able to read it.

You'd probably have an easier time using notepad to be honest (if notepad still exists in Vista).

Turns out the problem was with Open Office. Even cutting and pasting from OO to notepad cause Dominions to misread the text.
Simple fix: rewrite the whole mod from scratch on notepad.
