Newb question: Low resources in capitol
So, I'm playing in a PBEM, and we're around turn 25. The fortress in my capitol, for some reason, has way less resources than it used to. Only 85. I have all the provinces around it. Also, unrest is at 0 in all provinces.
Have I done something wrong to cause this resource deficiency? Are there stealthed enemy units that can sit in my capitol and drain my resources? I'm very confused, and it's REALLY killing my recruitment at a critical time.
Can anyone show a newb the light?

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
Do you have a death or sloth scale? (Skulls or a Saw-and-wood, respectively)
Have you been hit with population lowering events (such as hurricanes)?
Do you have high unrest (20 or so +)? This is normally caused by high taxes.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
Did you build castles in the provinces bordering your capital, or all their neighbors?
If so your capital could, in the worst case, be reduced to only those resources provided by the province it itself is in.

How high is your dominion? sounds like you're about to get dominion killed, if none of the other things apply.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
Fate: I have Sloth 3, but I have used this pretender many times with Arcoscephale, and not had this problem.
I don't remember being hit with popultion lowering incidents. I have 30,150 in my capitol. Is that low? My unrest is 0 in my cap, and in all surrounding provs.
vfb: I DID build a castle in a neighboring province, and thought that might be the problem, so I demolished it. But, it didn't have any effect.
Ich: I have five candles in the cap and surrounding provs.
I also see that the surrounding provs have less than 10 resources each. Maybe that's the problem? But, I swear I was once able to recruit with more resources in my cap.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
The 3.08 patch changed sloth to reduce resources -15% per point, rather than -10% per point as was the reduction before 3.08. This, plus the low resource provs around your capital, might account for the change.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
Ah, I bet that's it. We started with 3.06 and switched midway. Well, I guess I'm in trouble then. LOL.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
It could be worse. In my most advanced game, I have sloth 3, about five crossbow
heavy armies relying on Level 2 Fire mages for their flaming arrows, and glamourous
supercombatants.
With the patch, my power went way, way down. Guess who is forging flame helmets
as fast as possible, hoping to negate at least one of the effects.

Re: Newb question: Low resources in capitol
I presume that in the meantime you're just using Phoenix Power + burning an extra fire gem? The Flame Helmets save you the extra gem, but of course they cost extra gems to create...
