Default Hunting map making basics

Hi all,

I have just started playing around making maps but have been unable to find out some of the real basics. I have managed to create tga files and load them into the dominions3 map editor... but have not been able to get further. (The maps were created in VISIO, made out simple coloured hex's with white/grey borders.)

... How does dominions split a map up into seperate provinces and work out where the borders are? I have had a look through the forum but couldn't find anything, although i figured it should be fairly obvious! Can someone point me in the right direction?

iirc: A province is a single pixel of absolute white. That's all the game cares about on the map. So no other pixel may be exactly white (is it RGB 0,0,0?).

Borders and such on the map are optional, the game doesn't care about them at all.

I believe white is RGB 255,255,255, or ffffff if it's written in hex.

the borders on a map are just for looks. a province on the map is determined by a single pure white pixel. when you click on a map in the game, the closest white pixel is found and that is the province that you get. nothing else in the image has any meaning as far as the game is concerned.

white is RGB 255, 255, 255
