Ultimate Ship Design
I know there was a similar thread a while back, but what I want to know, if you had access to a) all racial tech areas and b) no maintenance, design your ultimate dreadnought.

Re: Ultimate Ship Design
i don't thnik there is an ultimate ship design, it all depends on the ships of your oppenent, and each design has at least one weakness, and that is exactly why i think this game is so good.
My guess is that each design posted here, can be defeated by another design of another player.

A: Objection. That question should be taken out and shot.

Re: Ultimate Ship Design
Perhaps if u change the name of this topic to 'Ultimate Fleet design', to counter the fact that any one ship could be beaten if u knew what u were facing.
Lets say 20 ships, any tech. What would u pick as your be all and end all fleet for most situations?

Re: Ultimate Ship Design
That is the greatest thing about this game, no single design in unbeatable! You must constantly modify your designs based on who/what you are facing.

Re: Ultimate Ship Design
I'll post some details in a couple of days about the ship designs I chose to fight the base-ship horde in the "face of the enemy" thread. Basically, I had to design a baseships and dreadnaughts to fight an outnumbered endgame against an opponent using no-maintenance to secure weight of numnbers advantage through solid deployment of the most resource/space efficient weapon systems in the game for pure time/damage stats ... ie. massive phased-polaron mounts from baseships.
I took some risks and some knowledge gleaned from these forums and have now programmed the pbem move to engage the enemy - when the next couple of turns are processed I will be able to report how successful (or not) I have been.
Regards

Re: Ultimate Ship Design
Ah, good. I look forward to hearing how that went.
SEIV actually makes quite a good spectator sport doesn't it?
