change to the blitz_chk.cgi
There has been a change to blitz_chk.cgi which now displays the nation files as either the .2h (file sent from player to the host) or the .trn (file created by host for the player to pick up) depending on which one is newer. That way its easy for people to see if they have a new turn file available without having to bring up Dominions to see it. They can just check the blitz page.

This also makes it clear to everyone what nations have done their turn or not. Is that a good thing? Im also considering a link to the stats file which shows who did and didnt do their turn the previous hosting. That would make it easier for me to check for dead games. Would that be too much info to provide on these games?

Re: change to the blitz_chk.cgi
When testing my PHP stats script on live games we noticed that the file times alone are not enough to accurately tell if somebody did their turns or not. If somebody connects to download the latest turn resolution, then enters the map screen and quits it by Escape and "Quit without saving", the *.2h file from last turn gets saved again, so the file time changes. This does not make any sense, but the game does it this way.

Re: change to the blitz_chk.cgi
That seems like it would happen rarely. But thanks for the info. I will try to let people know that your script is probably more accurate. In any case it should still serve well enough to tell people when the turn is available to them.
I could use dom3 --verify to check each .2h file and use that info but I wouldnt want to run that on every game every time someone wanted to check that page.

Re: change to the blitz_chk.cgi
Good idea, you should sticky this or add it to the stickied thread that has the address for your server.
Any chance you could do this for the other larger games you are hosting at the moment?

Re: change to the blitz_chk.cgi
Sure if its desired. On larger longer running games Ive done quite abit more. I create a directory for them and the hosting script moves files into place. Backup zipz, stats file, who did and didnt do turns. Also a rolling scoreboard that can keep track of how many provinces, army sizes, dominion rating, VP points, etc for 5 turns or 10 turns or longer histories.
Also email notification of turn being available.
Here is an example.
