Space Empires Haiku.
Haiku is a form of poetry with strict rules of construction. It does not need to rhyme, but each must be 17 syllables, five in the first line, seven in the second, five in the third. Haiku can be written about any subject.
Beware of warp points.
Not all are safe for travel.
They can be quite strange.
When seeking planets,
we have learned a truth sublime.
"Minerals are best!"
Of your growth we say,
it is quite remarkable.
It does astonish!
Minerals you need?
We know a source of many.
In asteroids near.
Give it a try. It can be fun and it's a good brain teaser.

Re: Space Empires Haiku.
Gee, why do those look familiar...
I'll try to come up with some later.

Re: Space Empires Haiku.
Maybe I could come up with a new race. Call them the Haikuroni. Rewrite the whole speech.txt in haiku. That would be a challenge. Then if I could come up with an oragami shipset...
Anyway, I thought of a new one driving home...
Play PBEM.
It is much easier now,

Our regents believe
That your treaty proposal
Has proven worthy.
(Treaty acceptance)
Your expansion must
Be checked by all. Consider
Us to be at war.

Re: Space Empires Haiku.
Had to get in on this one...
From chill space above
floods brimming plasma downward.
A colony dies.
They're not so loyal,
your brave space-faring pilots.
Crew insurrection.
Your coloniser
for my worthless two escorts.
Unequal exchange?
Now scrap metal are
your fierce shield generators.
Phased polaron Beam.
TCP/IP
is awaited by many
but I play by mail.
Suicide Junkie
with eye patch and parrot made
Pirates and Nomads.
With ewok-like tricks,
a meek primitive species
defends 'gainst your troops.
A thousand warships
miss your cloaked star destroyer.
You sneaky bastard.
I can't understand
your political logic
my murderous friend.

Re: Space Empires Haiku.
The infinite void,
is but a very small sqaure:
Tactical combat.

Re: Space Empires Haiku.
An icy wind sweeps forth.
Grains of sand shift so quickly --
Billions are lost.
The heat of battle:
For victors, eternal spring;
The rest melt away.
Young wyrms all look small,
But one will eat the heavens.
Spring: the eggs hatch now.
