The first beta version of my online map editor for Dom3 is now available at
http://dominions.realites.org/map_editor/
For this first beta, only a few preselected maps are available.
User submitted map image, and maybe random map images generated server-side will probably be available in a next version, but now I'm working on the basics. However, I can easily add more maps to the list, and I can take suggestions.
So what does the map editor, now in beta status, can do exactly ?
When you open the selected map, you will see a view of the map image in your browser, with a number on each province (the numbers are the same as what the official map editor would have assignated)
You also start with a map settings panel, that you can expand to see (and change) most general map settings. The map panel can also be moved elswhere (click on the header and drag). And of course there's a button on this panel to generate the map code (it will open a new window, so you can continue to edit the map if you wish)
When you click on a province number for the first time, this will have the effect of selecting the province (its number will be displayed with a blue background).
The province neighbours will have their background color chanded to green so you can see them, and a province panel will open.
Currently in this phase of beta, the province panel will only show the province terrain types -all of them-, that you can change anytime as you wish.
You can also change the neighbours : if you click on a neighbours (green background), you will remove the connection. If you click to another province, it will make a new connection. To unselect the current province, just click elseqhere on the map (or on the selected province itself)
So currently my editor can do anything the official one do, plus some general map commands.
For the second beta, province informations will be fully available, and magic sites , commanders and units will be editables.
I'm available for any question or suggestion.
