Default Map Editor Question

I am making a map and have a system that I want to make sure the game never sticks a starting planet in.

We can do it with the system types.txt file. There is a line that says, "Empires Can Start In := TRUE/FALSE", but can't find an equiivelent in the ME.

Well you could just put too many starting points in all the other systems and none in that system
e.g. on every other planet put a communal starting place or similar.
I'm no expert on the map editor but, hey it's a shot that might just hit the target.

In my map map6 I created a new system #254 named Central (see really big games). I specified the system type as Nexus, which is not a recognized system type. In 90 passes I added 4875 starting planets using a 10 planet start in the game for twenty races. It never put any new planets in Central. So you can be sure that a race will never start in a system if it has a nonstandard system type.

Thanks. That sounds like it will work perfectly for what I want.

Matryx, your ideworks too, I came up with that one on my own, but LLC's idea sounds like it would be easier.

I am trying to get the game to add planets in systems I added manually. I created a map with just four systems and the game always crashed giving lots of errors after I exited to windows and it closed. Finally I got a message about out of memory and had to reboot. I then fiddled with the game a while, then decided to give it one more try. The game generated just fine! It turns out that you can not have both the map editor and the game open at the same time. I do not know if that is a bug or a feature. I am posting to bring this old thread up because I was wrong. If the game has noplace else to give a empire start, then it will create in any system regardless of whether it is standard or not. I guess I just got lucky generating map6 with a 1/254 chance of hitting that system.
