Been a while since I offered up one of my vaguely drunk Friday night braindumps, but here's one now: Banksy. He's a highly contraversial grafitti artist in the UK (although his work has appeared abroad). Some of his stuff (ie the elephant) is borderline in my opinion, but by and large he has my respect. I'd love one of his stencils on my wall. I'm also a fan of his habit of making his own art and then hanging it in art galleries, and seeing how long it stays. "Withus or Againstus" was up in the natural History Museum for a week or more, IIRC.
Love it or hate it, his work is undeniably imaginative, subversive and entertaining. If nothing else, he get points for ripping the p!ss out of that bloody Paris Hilton. Here's a few URLs to get you started:

I've been to Brighton and seen the policemen snogging for myself. Just why is that so shocking? It shouldn't be, but it is, which perhaps is why it is. Certainly something to think about, or maybe only after a few cans of something fizzy and strong.
