So, any hosted MP Dom3 games starting up?
I realize that IRC is often the first place people go for those, but it's hard for me to do so at work. Anyone got something starting that I can jump in on? No preferences on game-type, although prefer hosted to PBEM. I just want to start playing!

I will probably host a big PBEM once I get my copy.

Start small. Things might not work as you expect them to, and I think you'll all want to try lots of different strategies first. Fast games in small maps, that's nice for learning. And there's lots to learn.

Who knows, maybe few weeks/months later we will start that infamous huge game with 50+ players with nations from all eras. Why make ladders when we can have whole forum in one game?
Yeah, I know I'm nuts.

Yikes. I'd hate to be the host of that game. Hopefully a PBEM server will be around for that monumental task. We all know EA will sweep that game, though.

Re: So, any hosted MP Dom3 games starting up?
As is, my computer's a little slow doing full turns in the early stages of an 18-person single-player game. And it's a fairly new (2 years) laptop. I shudder to think what hosting a all-eras game would look like. As is, I'm scaling back on mine.
One neat note - Did you know that now, as the computer hosts turns, it'll show you each individual step, in order, of how it's resolving each turn? The manual actually documents the hosting schedule in terms of what events happen when as well. VERY neat stuff.

That happens in map generation as well. "Drawing stuff".

For some reason, the schedule in map generation reminds me of those TV shows where you'd watch a guy paint mountains for you. "Adding color"; "Adding forests"; "Drawing stuff".
Good times.
