Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
The maintenance on a destroyer is 1200, robo miner mines 800. What gives?

I use them all the time...of course, that's only when I use my DevnullMod which actually makes them worthwhile with the Prospector Hulls =)

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
dont use ships to robomine - use large satellites. A med to large transport can carry a bunch out to an asteroid system and deploy them all around. Satellites cost nothing to maintain.

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
Or use a base chock-full of resource miners, and take advantage of the half-off maintenance. Don't forget to bring a shipyard ship and scrap the base once mining has reduced resource values to the point where it's not worth it, 'tho.
If you intend to do robo-mining at all, that is. I normally don't, because I'm lazy and find moving battle fleets around FAR more interesting, and in a huge single-human universe where I've time to convert all production to Monolith III's backed with value plants, resources eventually stop being a significant problem.

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
AJC: What an interesting idea. Can you deploy more than 1 satellite per asteroid (and have them all work) or is it just one satellite per asteroid?

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
Someone brought this up awhile back I think in the Pirate or Nomad thread. If I remember correctly, only one satellite in the group actual produced resources. I think this was if they were all the same kind of extractor. Might be able to group satellites of different resource extraction types together though, ie one mineral, one organic, one rad.

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
I'm currently using the P&N mod, playing Pirates. You can probably figure the rest
(Just in case you can't, Pirates have no worthwhile production facilities, the economy basically operates on Remote Mining and scrapping captured enemy ships).

Re: Does anyone use ROBO MINERS?
According to the description only one ship can mine a location. guess if you had 15 miners of any combo on one ship you would collect them all.
Also remember the robominer mine all planets in the space so the best robomining spot is a planet with 2 or 3 moons as you mine from all planets each turn.

It will not, however, mine _colonized_ planets or moons.
