possible bug
While playing a scenario, I moved an infantry unit 5 or 6 MPs, when it was fired on. It took some suppression damage, so I rallied it with the rally button. When I rallied it, it got its MPs back allowing it to move another 6MPs (12MPs in one turn is pretty rigorous for an infantry squad). This has happened a couple of times during the scenario.

Re: possible bug
It's probably a ski unit in the snow. Or it could be a ski unit not working correctly on normal ground. Of course with it being a scenario, anything is possible.

Re: possible bug
No, I've seen the same thing with standard US squads on August '44 France maps. I only had it happen once and I just thought it was something I missed when I was playing.
But I have definately seen it happen too. If it occurs again, I'll try and get a save.

Re: possible bug
Save games would be great specically one where you saved just before this happened then replaying the turn shows it happening again.

Re: possible bug
For me, it was just a quick battle that I saw it in.

Re: possible bug
It has been there for a while, but the trouble with this bug is that it is rare, and non-repeatable so just about impossible to debug.
Since it is rather rare, and not to be relied on, the fact that some rallies will get you back to "full" status can be attributed to a really good NCO !
It'll be some minor line in the spaghetti, somewhere or other, and if I can ever get a debug save that has it reasonably reliably occuring, I'll be able to trace into it. That is the advantage of doing things with Borland C++ and its integrated source-line debugger, over the old DOS Watcom C++ where you had to do printfs to a TXT file (sheer joy, not ! ! - you can usually eventually find these "edge" conditions.

Re: possible bug
Yep, I just considered it a favorable 'heat of battle' roll and I'm not overly worried about it. It just adds to the uncertainty of combat.

Re: possible bug
Ah Yes, this is one of those little bugs that pops up from time to time but the frequency of the reports is so few and far between I forget if we fixed it or not. If you ever see it again and you took a save just before it, try doing the exact same things again from the save and if you get the same added movement please zip it up , explain what we need to do and what unit's involved and post it here and we'll dig into it.
Don
As Andy noted you can think about this as a really REALLY inspiring speech from the NCO ( or he just rolled a grenade under the squad ) . For all we know the "bug" may be in the rally code and you just rolled the electronic equivalent of boxcars--twice. But we won't know for sure until we can repeat it
